Wow! That’s entertaining, right!? It was so boring I have no idea what the showrunners were thinking. Carrie-Anne Moss’ lawyer character Jeri Hogarth discovers she has ALS and throughout the whole season we get to she how she deals with that realization. Now that they’re probably going to give us Hellcat later on in the show is really throwing off my groove.Īlong with the terrible writing and acting associated with Trish, there are other side plots that do absolutely nothing to the overall story arch. Trish Walker in the comics is the superhero Hellcat, who was lame in the comics too. It was so lame that I’m getting angry just thinking about it. We are lead to believe that the surgery didn’t work, however, in one of the last scenes she does some acrobatic move on accident that shows her reflexes have been heightened, thus confirming that the surgery did in fact work. This is all because she wants to just go out and punch bad guys. She threatens to kill this scientist if he doesn’t give her experimental surgery which might give her super powers. And what really makes me mad is the show leaves off with a cliff hanger showing us how she is going to have an even more crucial part in the future. She constantly makes horrible decisions that have serious outcomes all of which could be easily be avoided if she wasn’t such an idiot. Trish is one of the stupidest characters I have ever seen in anything.
If you saw the first season and were a fan of Jessica’s friend Trish Walker, you are going to be severely disappointed if you still intend on watching the second season.
Her character has shown some intriguing development after “The Defenders” and even has quality growth through the events of this season as she faces her past while trying to look to the future. The reason that episode was decent was because there was actually a bad guy in it even though he was just an apparition in her mind.Īs for acting and characters, the only good one was Ritter’s Jessica. The best episode of the season was one where Jessica was hallucinating and seeing visions of David Tennant’s Kilgrave. A show or film like this is only ever as good as its villain, and there was none here. Just in that quick plot overview, we can see why this season sucks: there’s no villain. Jessica has returned to her life as a private investigator after the “tragic” events of “The Defenders.” Now well known around town as the super-powered detective, she begins dealing with cases of other super-powered individuals that begin to uncover the unknown origins of her own powers. Ritter’s acting in both seasons as well as “The Defenders” is awesome, and she is definitely not to blame for the weakness in the second season. Krysten Ritter’s performance as the super powered, alcoholic detective was also fantastic and that translated into the second season as well. Portrayed by David Tennent, Kilgrave’s straight up evil agenda was the main reason that the first season was as good as it was. There was a central villain who was one of the best villains in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe including the movies. There was a twisting plot with unpredictable and shocking outcomes.
Here is why the first season was so good. But because the first season of “Jessica Jones” was one of the strongest seasons of any of the Marvel shows I was very excited for the second. “Luke Cage” was okay, “Iron Fist” was God-awful, and “The Defenders” was just meh. I would say that the past four seasons of the Marvel Netflix series, not including “The Punisher,” have been nothing to get excited about. I was super excited for Jessica Jones’ second season because the first one was so good. That was me during my Spring Break and anyone else who watched the second season of “Jessica Jones.” I mean, that isn’t the only thing I did on Spring Break, but it was one of them. There is no worse feeling than to be so excited for something only for it to flop and be extremely disappointing.
